Keeping Families Safe

In South Texas, we can’t escape the crime, illegal drugs and weapons, and human trafficking constantly flowing over our border. I’ve seen it affect families and communities in a deeply disturbing way. That’s why as your State Representative, I’ll put common-sense border security plans in place. I will work with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to maintain a large presence at the border and ensure they communicate and coordinate effectively.

Lowering Taxes

Property taxes are outrageous across Texas. Legislators have a duty to taxpayers to cut the wasteful spending and put dollars back in the pockets of the people they serve. I’ve been working to lower taxes on the local level for years, and I’m ready to tackle it at the state level.

Business and Community Investments

I’m a business owner who first ran for office because I saw the need for economic development and small business support in my community. When businesses move in, it causes a domino effect that allows the whole community to profit.

I also see a need for our government to partner with businesses and organizations to address some of the issues we face in our district such as mental health, drug abuse, and early child education. I’ve been a part of great investments like building the first mental health hospital for our region, but I am eager to do more for businesses and local issues as your State Representative.

Water

It is vital that we protect our rural communities’ access to water. Agriculture is a major economic driver for South Texas, and I will not let farmers and ranchers suffer from old infrastructure and a lack of access, especially as larger cities north of us continue to expand. I will be a strong advocate for water rights and fight to ensure Mexico sticks to their agreement and releases more water to us.

Trucking Industry

Laredo was the top US port for international trade in 2023, facilitating the movement of over $320 billion worth of goods. We must ensure our infrastructure is maintained so we are able to continue transporting goods and maintain the jobs in the trucking industry.

Education

Our first priority must always be to give our children an excellent education, rooted in the basics of reading, writing, history, and mathematics. Encouraging parental involvement and retaining great teachers are critical steps in improving education in South Texas. Teaching to a test doesn’t set our children up for success; a strong education based in the fundamentals will. I will be the voice for parents and teachers in Austin, and I will also fight to expand opportunities for kids to get involved in vocational and trade schools, ensuring every student has the chance to get not just a good education, but a good-paying job.
